“I Feel Like I Should Have Lasers” (Saturday EDC – long entry) [Awooga]

June 3, 2011 Leave a comment

The first day of any event like this is always a bit unorganized. The second, and last sadly, went much smoother. We all woke up around 10am thanks to the daylight being unbearable. Ashley, Patrick, and I decided to have brunch at Waffle House and load up on some calories for the day.

I didn’t care too much about being there early, the first act I wanted to see was Filo and Peri (a trance duo) who’s set time was 5:30.

“We Are The Survivors” (Friday EDC – long entry) [Feel It In My Bones]

I’m a bit sad I didn’t take as many pictures as I should have this EDC.

I drove by my self from Tampa to Orlando to meet up Andy, Danni, and Ashley. We spent a little time in the hotel getting ready and discussing who we would see. The “main stage”, aka: Kinetic Field, just seemed like a good place to be all day but I knew I would need a break from that. I wanted to see Metropolis, Porter Robinson, Skrillex, and a few others.

The weather forecast for the day said there was a chance that it would rain late afternoon/early night time. Even from our hotel room we could see rain in the distance but a little rain couldnt deter us from a music festival, so off we went.

Initially we were waiting on two of Andy’s friends that were going to pick us up from the hotel but we didn’t want to wait any longer so we called for a cab downstairs. While we were waiting, there was another guy, Patrick, who was waiting for two of his friends — he asked if he could split the taxi with us, so all five of us went together to the festival grounds.

Since Patrick was alone, he decided to stick around with our group. We arrived early-ish — about 5:30, and there was no one we really wanted to see in that time slot so we sat down on the Circuit Grounds field to watch DJ Dan. After DJ Dan, Metropolis was supposed to come on at 6:30pm. Metropolis was almost at the top of my list of to-see people but by 6:45 I was getting really discouraged; DJ Dan was still throwin down music and there were no signs of him stopping.

So we head over to watch Dirty South who starts putting on an awesome show as the dark clouds loom ever closer.

Perpetual Motion [Skies On Fire]

As I type this blog post, Electric Daisy Carnival is less than 12 hours away and I’m so excited I can hardly sleep. Just thought I’d post right before I go to bed. Besides work being.. work — I haven’t had much time to do anything else — hence the title.

Nothing too much too much else to report on.. I recently found out one of my co-workers is a rapper and he wants some pics done so I’ll get those up soon. I had some deeper stuff to blog about but I’ll save it for a later date.

LOVE [music] Stimulation — You better believe I’ll have some awesome songs AFTER EDC. Here are just three tracks that caught my attention recently. Check them out!

This track OOZES summer feeling — its uplifting vocal trance, not too strong of a bass line, a nice flowing melody, big room sound, and catchy lyrics — what more could you want. I surely hope to hear this at EDC!

First State ft. Sarah Howells – Skies On Fire
you opened your eyes in a different way,
never looked to the future
and you played with your clothes(?) in a distinct way
to avert disaster

im just dying to find these fingers(?) of mine
get lucky this time
skies on fire

This is a vocal trance tune but the remix gives a nice zing 🙂

Aly & Fila vs Philippe El Sisi feat. Senadee – Without You (Nhato Remix)

Electro houseeeeeee 😉

DJ Arcade – Goliath’s Wrath

One Week Strong [Beachbreeze]

May 23, 2011 Leave a comment

I’ve officially been “on my own” for a week and its going quite well in my opinion. 🙂

I really like Tampa much more than Jacksonville now. There’s so much more here to do and see. I have yet to really experience the night life but it’ll have to wait because the next two weekends I’m going to be out of town. It already looks promising though with all the clubs and stories I’ve been hearing.

EDC is this coming weekend (27-28) and I can’t wait! Once again I’m left to make hard decisions on the acts I want to see and miss. By the way, WHOS DECISION WAS IT TO HAVE TIESTO AND SKRILLEX PLAY AT THE SAME TIME?? /rant. I was looking forward to seeing both, as it would be my 6th time seeing Tiesto live — if I missed Skrillex, it’d be the 4th time I missed him play because of other people playing at the same time. Ashley said she’d rather go see Skrillex so I guess thats whats going to happen.

Sunday 5/22/2011

Went to the beach today with company. Very fun times.. except for parking. It took us at least 40 minutes to find parking, maybe because we didn’t feel like paying 15-20$ to park. We eventually found a metered spot for 4$.

The beach at Clearwater is just that — very clear. I love the color of the water. It was perfect beaching weather and the water was nice and cool. Although it was packed we had a great time.

Sunday Ultra [Reverie] (more than a week late)

April 5, 2011 Leave a comment

After going out last night and walking around South Beach, we still woke up relatively early to take a nice walk on the beach. We walked about a good mile down it because it was so nice out. The water felt refreshing hitting our feet and the sun was just right.

After my hearty breakfast of a “Big Texas Cinnamon Roll” and a Red Bull I was ready for the last day of Ultra. There was no arguing between me and Ryan what the ideal line up of today was.. definitely ASOT500.ALL.DAY. This line up is a trance lover’s dream come true. Minus Above and Beyond and Paul van Dyk, this line up had the biggest names in the WORLD!

some guy was giving these out on the corner:

the most amazing piece of art that I saw in Miami: A bike chained to a pole.. Its front wheel taken off.. It must have been there for a long time.. long enough for someone to do this to it:
the detail in this was amazing. they went and covered the pedals on both sides.. etc. You can tell its been there for a while like that too. I wonder how long it’ll stay there..

Saturday Ultra [Don’t Stop Dancing] (one week late)

April 3, 2011 Leave a comment

I think its funny that to actually write these blogs I’m referencing the pictures I took.. and looking at the times they’re taken.. so here goes my entry for Saturday of Ultra Music Festival.

Friday night (Saturday morning) we don’t get to bed until about 04:00 that morning. Despite this we all (being me, Ryan, Amanda, and David) woke up at about 09:30. Probably due to the fact that the hotel next to us was white and incredibly bright when the sun rose and our window was open haha. Although we were reluctant to get up and start moving the weather was perfect — and I know I’m over-using this word.. but I can’t express to you how awesome it was.
