Full Swing [You Got To Go]

October 2, 2011 Leave a comment

I didn’t mean to leave my blog idle for so long. It doesn’t seem as if much time has passed since my last entry that its hard to believe its October already. This semester is different from semesters passed in that my only obligation is school, as opposed to previous semesters where I would have to balance work and school and going out. I’m so close to graduating that I just decided to go all out. My goal this semester is to make all A’s and currently I’m realistically projecting I’ll make at least 3x A’s.

To help myself, I deactivated my Facebook. For the first week I really wanted to check it but now I’m over the withdrawl. I really like not having it. Even though I’m not as connected to everyone, the extra time that I would have spent on there is adding to my productivity.

Part (most?) of the stress from school is coming from my senior design class. Senior design is basically a huge 6 month project that tests all of your skills from previous engineering classes and forces you to become well rounded. I guess you could say I’m enjoying rising up to the challenge. My group’s senior design mechanical engineering project is a joint project with civil engineers. Our team is in charge of designing the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air condition) and plumbing systems for the building. It’s so much more work than it sounds like.

This semester hasn’t been without its highlights though. I saw Tiesto and Porter Robinson on Sept 27th in Tallahassee. The show was awesome. Tiesto dropped some of his (I’m assuming) new unreleased tracks which brought down the house. In related news, I BOUGHT MY TICKETS FOR ULTRA #14 (MARCH, 2012)!! Although expensive, It was the same amount I paid last year for the general admission tickets for three days. Just another incentive to get through this semester!

Work Hard, Play Hard [Mush, Mush]

July 6, 2011 Leave a comment

It’s been almost a month since I’ve last blogged. Work and working on editing pictures from Eureca’s wedding has had me ridiculously busy.

Happy Independence Day by the way. Work gives me a paid day off which is why I have time to write this. I just recently finished designing the wedding album for Eureca and Ezra on Friday, then this Saturday [7/2/2011] I shot Riza and Jonah’s wedding. It was a beautiful, traditional ceremony. Here are a few pictures:

Eureca and Erza Battle’s Wedding Day

June 9, 2011 Leave a comment

Saturday 6/4/2011

I finally made a trip home after about three weeks of being away. ‘Twas nice being back home for the weekend but I was only there to shoot Ervin’s sister, Eureca’s, wedding. I’ve known Ervin and his family for 20 years! We moved in the same neighborhood at the same time when our houses were new. Also, Ervin helped me get an internship at Sun Hydraulics, which is pretty win.

I got back to Jacksonville late afternoon on Friday and had dinner with Ashley and the family. It was as if I had never left.

Eureca’s wedding festivities started late afternoon, but I went early to shoot the bride’s maids and the groom’s men, and also Eureca getting ready.

The wedding was on the roof of a hotel facing the river. It was a wonderful setting with the Jacksonville skyline in the background.

Here are a few pictures from the day. The pictures are linked to my Flickr account so if you click them, that’s where they’ll take you.

I love the intimacy of this photo and the way some of the guests frame the bride and her father. Both her and the groom were brought to tears by happiness. To be honest, I loved shooting this wedding and they made me feel like part of the family while I was there.

Here’s a beautiful view of the skyline:

After the ceremony we took just a few minutes to snap some pictures by the river:

There are a few more photos in my POTW (picture of the week) tab if you would like to check them out. Comments and critiques are welcome either here or on my Flickr. Thanks for reading!

An Experiment In Self Sufficiency [Future Is Now]

I’ve finally arrived in Tampa with my friend Ervin. The past few days have been a little hectic getting everything ready for me leaving. Well I’m finally here and I’m looking forward to my first day of my internship tomorrow.

This will be an interesting 3 months as this will be the longest time I’ve had to be on my own — with money. I know its relatively late in life for this to be a first but we all have to start somewhere.

I told my mom that she can track my progress through my blog, so if you’re reading this mom and dad, thank you for all of your support. I promise I’ll do my best.

My good friend Crystal B. asked me to take her prom pics. Here are a few of my favorites. You can check out my flickr or the POTW (picture of the week) tab for more pics 🙂

Rain Or Shine [Wait For You]

The title of this entry comes from the two shoots I did on Friday and Saturday, very alike in the concept, very different in the execution. As you may be able to deduce, one was rainy.. and the other one was.. wait for it.. sunny. Enjoy the pics. Thanks for visiting.

Finishing Touches [ATRC]

March 24, 2011 1 comment

So my last entry was about so much happening. Finally, on the eve of Ultra, I can somewhat relax and look forward to the weekend. I successfully sold the truck — which btw, craigslist is FTW.

My Transport Phenomena test which was on Monday, the day after ultra — AKA recovery day, was moved to Tuesday or later in the week. My Thermodynamics test is probably going to be on Wednesday and Friday. I think I’m set.

All that’s left for me to do now is pack. I’m bringing my 7D and my parent’s little point and shoot camera. My goal for this weekend is to try and document EVERYTHING. When I have free time after the semester ends, I’ll put together an album of my whole trip and have some blank pages for people to sign — kind of like a year book.

In other news, I got my new camera on this past Wednesday. It’s a Canon 5D. To be totally honest, I was expecting something along the lines of the image quality I got from my 40D (which is a newer body). I’m pleasantly surprised to say the least. Something about the FF (full frame) perspective is amazing and it brings out the quality in my L lenses. Here are a few pics I’ve taken since I got it.
